Winter Ski Programs are Around the Corner — Coaches Needed

winter ski programs

You can see snow from our houses! It’s time to start thinking about winter ski programs. Plan ahead for the whole family. TUNA has programs for ages 4 and up.

Learn To Ski

Kids ages 4-8 who are stepping into skis for the first time will love playing in the snow with us! The program meets four Sunday afternoons in January. Parents are asked to stay on the snow with their kids while we play, learn, and laugh.

From never-ever skied to racing the Citizens Series, Devo is the heart of junior skiing for ages 6-18. The emphasis is on learning both classic and skate skiing, and rental equipment is available for both disciplines. Older Devo skiers who aren’t as interested in racing can join the XC squad. Sign up early and stay tuned for details about uniform and equipment pickup.

Junior Comp

For the competitive kid aged 8-13, Junior Comp is for skiers interested in a future with competitive skiing. Many Junior Comp skiers go on to Comp and collegiate racing, and the foundations for that are built right here. There are junior comp programs year-round and winter is a 3-day per week program at Mountain Dell. Older and more skilled Junior Comp skiers will be racing in the junior national qualifiers (JNQ) and Citizens Series.

Skiers aged 14-19 who are racing and training will find their home here. Junior Nationals is their goal every year. Skiers work directly with TUNA Head Coach Steve Cook on technique development, training, and reaching the goal of a trip to JN’s.

Adult Clinics

Bringing your junior to Mountain Dell after school? Might as well hone your skills too. The adult clinic meets once a week and helps to refine technique. Anyone from never-ever beginners to those with the Wasatch Citizens Series in their sights can benefit from this after-work clinic.

Masters Training

Masters who are currently racing but looking to improve their training can benefit from organized training in a group. Whether it’s finishing the Boulder or winning an age-group medals at the WCS, this group runs through a warmup, skill drills, intervals, and FUN.
